Welcome

Welcome to St. Mary's Primary School Website.

I am delighted to introduce you to our new informative website and to invite you to discover more about life in St. Mary's Primary School.

St Mary's is situated in the townland of Derrytrasna, on the southern shore of Lough Neagh.

In our school we are committed to providing an excellent all round education for every child entrusted to our care. We aim to provide a caring school environment where each individual child is encouraged to respect themselves, others in the school community and the wider community.

I hope you enjoy visiting the different pages of our website and seeing the opportunities available to our children.

πŸŽƒ Well done to Charlie O’Neill (winner) and Shay McGeown (runner up) in our guess the weight of our pumpkin challenge. πŸŽƒ A big thanks to our PTA for organising! πŸ‘
⭐️ Well done to our Stars of the Month for October ⭐️
Our Primary 7 boys and girls had a wonderful time visiting the Derrytrasna Seniors at Sarsfields as part of our Intergenerational Project! πŸ’« This ACNI-funded initiative brought the two groups together for a fun-filled Victorian schoolday experience with Miss Anderson. There was plenty of chatter, laughter β€” and of course, a few biscuits to keep everyone going! β˜•πŸͺ A fantastic day of learning, sharing stories, and connecting across generations. ❀️
πŸ‘» Well done to all our children who supported our annual Spooky Walk πŸ‘»
A massive thank you to the county champions for visiting our school with their trophy today! πŸ† There were lots of tired boys and girls around after staying up late to celebrate the big win on Sunday night β€” but the excitement was worth it! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘
What a result! We are so proud of the whole squad! Up the Hoops! 🟒βšͺ️
Well done to our school football team! πŸŽ‰βš½ A huge congratulations to our fantastic team who reached the Shield Final in the St Ronan’s Tournament! This is a brilliant achievement, with our players once again punching above their weight and defeating much bigger schools on their way to the final. Both the boys and girls showed great skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day β€” we’re incredibly proud of you all! πŸ‘πŸ‘
🐾As part of their topic on Pets, Primary 2/3 had a very special visitor – vet Clare McGeown! 🩺🐢🐱 Clare gave the children a fantastic insight into her role as a vet and how she helps care for animals. The class loved learning about all the different ways vets look after pets and keep them healthy. The children had the opportunity to use real vet equipment to treat their own sick toy animals! 🧸❀️ It was a brilliant, fun-filled learning experience – thank you so much, Clare!
